Gonzalez's Heart

I am so sorry I have not written for a few days. We have had a busy couple of days. Robyn and I had a great time shopping. She thought since we had a few hours we would make it to a few places but only made it to one. We both bought some really cute clothes.

Friday they moved Jaden to a room all the way at the end of the hall. It is the place they go on their way out (to the floor as they call it). We have had many things happen in our rooms. This last one we were in we had an 11 year old come in because he over dosed on his medication on purpose. He told the doctor that his sister always told him she hated him and that is why he did it. It was a very sad thing to hear and see. We have not been anxious to move to the Children's floor because we go from one nurse per child who is in the room always to one nurse per every four who is not in the room. However, after this 11 year old came to our room, I guess you could say we were ready.

Saturday afternoon we got the word that Jaden was moving to the floor. We were very nervous. This means one step closer to home though so it helps some. So we were moved to the floor and it has been pretty good. Jaden still is hoarse and can not really be heard when he cries so we do get nervous that no one will know that he is crying if we are not there. They say his stats will tell them he is crying. He has been doing good sucking his pacifier so they talked about starting to feed with a bottle or breast feed soon.

So this morning, they took out his last chest tube and said he could start tomorrow with bottle and breast because he is doing so good. We were a little surprised because just yesterday they were talking more like Tuesday or Wednesday. I will meet with the speech therapist at 10am and we will hopefully try. There are many things that have to fall into place in order for this to happen and his stats have to remain at certain levels in order to continue. So I am very excited and actually nervous as I hope it goes well because I am really ready to nurse.

Sal and the kids got here late Friday night and we have all had a good time. We went to target today and bought each of the kids a toy and they both got to hold Jaden a few times this weekend. Of course Ethan kept asking when his feeding tube will come out. But this is the first time Ethan actually wanted to hold him and it was the sweetest thing in the world. He showed so much love for Jaden. We have all had a good time and enjoyed ourselves. They are getting ready to leave and we are all not wanting the moment to come. But hopefully soon we will all get to go home.

Have a good rest of the day.

Love, Steph

It's so amazing how everything is falling into place so quickly. It will be so good to have him nursing and all those tubes out of him. I will continue to pray for your little Super Star! :)

I was figuring out Josh's scheduling tomorrow and probably will not have time to come and see you. I have to be back in town by 3:30-4:00 and then head back to Arden Hills by 6:30 for a meeting. The doctor had said that his appointment could last up to 4 hours (praying that it won't be longer than that). I'll probably have to wait to see you until you get home.

I'm glad that you were able to have some fun shopping. :)

God bless!

Steph,
It seems like Jaden is making excellent progress! I know it's hard to move around the hospital, but it's a good sign that he can. I'll keep praying for your little darling.

I'll certainly be praying for you tomorrow!!! It's amazing to see the progress, and I can only imagine all the emotions that you are feeling. It is hard to have the kids go, but thankfully it will mean more time for you to be with Jaden and keep an eye on him for yourself. It must have been hard to say goodbye to Jaden's nurse! I thought that the setup was really cool. Praying that Jaden's voice clears up soon too!! Believe me, a quiet cry can be a good thing... =)

Bobbi is going to help with taxi services on Friday ;-), everything seemed to fall into place just perfectly!

Love ya,
Steph

Wow!!! I can't believe that he has moved out. That is such great news. All of you have shown such strength during all of this. You have made it through so many tough things, surgeries, roomates with Jaden, being apart, but you always stay so up. It is great to see how well you are dealing with all of this.

You will be in heaven when he is taking a bottle/nursing. I don't think I will ever forget the little noises my kids made when they were eating. It seems like that littel sound can calm the most hectic of days. Hopefully his little voice will improve every day too.

I'm sure it was great to have the other kids there too and of course Sal. Keep up the awesome job that you are both doing. We will continue to pray for all for all of you.

Love,
Krista

Hi HOney,
You didn't tell me on the phone about Ethan holding Jaden. I can just see him and am so glad that he was happy to hold him. This will be a big adjustment for him when he comes home. Ashley will be all ready to be big sister again.

Well, am going to go to bed... will be seeing your kids tomorrow. I will kiss them goodnight for you.
XXOXO .. heres a couple kisses and hugs for you and Jaden.
