Gonzalez's Heart

We had a really good confident nurse last night so I was able to go to the RMH comfortably. They do not have a place for us to sleep in the PICU and the family lounge was so full that someone had to sleep on the floor. I came back really early this morning and they said the night went good but that Jaden was a very light sleeper and woke up at least 5 times. They all held him and he went right back to sleep. The nurses all love him and always talk about how cute he is and "who would not want to come to work when they get to play with a baby like Jaden." That makes Sal and I feel so good. I also know he will be taken really good care of because he is so loved and spoiled here.

He overall looks wonderful and is doing very well. However, his sats are still a little low and the cardiologist has been concerned so they did some lab work to see if anything was going on that they could not see. Sara, to answer your question, they did have him on O2 and they actually had it higher then they normally do and it did not seem to help.

One of the residents just came in and said since we are staying at the RMH and are so close to the hospital that they are going to let us leave. So they will work up the paperwork and we will get to go. YEAH!!! Jaden and I will take the long way back and enjoy the day together. After all of this though, I was reassured how hard it is going to be after his surgery. Jaden is so active and wants to play with and explore everything. He will not want to be help down and hold still. He will get very angry. I am already knowing that.

So that is the good news for today. Surgery tomorrow AM. Pray hard.

Love to you all, Steph

Hi,
That is great that Jaden is holding true and remains to be a trooper! Enjoy this beautiful day and know that you have many, many, many prayers being said for all for you! It is great that you are able to have Lana to help with the other kids. I know that they are very worried and understand all of the anxiety that is going on.
You guys are tough and have made it trough so much already and have proven to be very strong. This is just another step to him living a long and happy life!!
Take care and big hugs to all fo you!!!
Thanks for taking the time to put the updates on. It is an easy way to know what is going on and we can show our love and support to all fo you.
Love,
Krista

Steph,
I'm so glad they let you leave for the day. It's almost impossible to keep busy little boys happy in the hospital- believe me, I've experienced that a few too many times myself. While Jaden's activity level will make it a bit of a challenge after surgery, I think it shows just how strong a fighter he is! I'll continue to pray for all of you in the days ahead.

You know what I'm thinking now? I have been reading stories of other HLHS babies, and some of them come home really soon after their 2nd stage surgery. I'm starting to be really worried that my fabric is not going to be here in time. [pretty selfish, huh?] Jaden is such a fighter, he is going to be all recovered before I can get it here!!! I'm sure we will all be ok with that. =) I'm going to start working on the other projects today, so maybe I will coordinate a drop-off on Saturday. Plan B (when it involves Jaden coming home really soon) is definitely a good thing!

I'm so glad he's doing so well. It is a nice warm day out, so I hope you find lots of fun things to keep your boy busy!!

Hugs,
Steph T

So glad to hear you can have your sweet baby Jaden with you for the night at the RMD house instead of having him stay in the hospital. Yay!!

Steph,

We'll be praying! I can't even begin to imagine the emotions you are feeling right now...

Jaden is strong - a fighter - and our God is GOOD!

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we can't wait to hear the update tomorrow!

Jaden, Sal, the kids & you were our main focus of pray at the PTF meeting today. :)

I will be continually praying for the surgery and for Jaden's recovery. I also pray for strength for you.

You have a strong fighter there and God is in complete control. Easier said than done but try to rest when you can.

Praying and sending you a big hug! :)
