Gonzalez's Heart

We got to the hospital at 5am and took Jaden to start getting ready for his surgery. They took him back and would not let Sal go this time to be with him when they put him under. That was hard for me to know that he would be awake, alone and in a strange room without one of us. So we then came to the waiting room and have been waiting for the operation to start. They will let us know when they are ready to start. So far mom, dad, Mattie, aunt Robyn, tia Kelly, great aunt Diane, tia Wendy and tata Jose have been here. The volunteer in the waiting room has already learned we are an exciting and fun family. She asked if it was safe to offer Sal any sugar.

The anesthesiologist just came out to update us and let us know that they have been working for 80 minutes now trying to get all of his lines hooked up. They need to put one in his groin area to put blood through in case of an emergency. Both his groin vessels are occluded (blocked) so they are not able to put a line through it. So this is taking a long time and they had a specialist come from the hospital to help with the x ray machine to help guide him with the line. He also said that worse case scenario would be that they would put the line through his neck. They prefer not to do it this way. So the surgery will not start for awhile longer until they are able to figure out how/where to put the line.

Tell the volunteer it is the chipotle burritos that really speak to Sal's heart. =) I am so glad you are surrounded with your support people. This will make it easier for all of you. Josh woke me up this morning at 5 am (someone forgot to tell him about the time change) and so I have been praying for you all morning.

How long do they think the surgery will take? Do you know if they will have to leave his chest open again? I hope they found a good vessel they could put a line in!! It will be strange, I'm sure, to once again see your baby attached to all those lines. I have been praying so hard that God would just give you a sense of peace and trust in His control. Don't worry, soon Jaden will be all yours once again!!!

Love ya, Steph T

I am praying for all of you. I also sent out a prayer request to my Christian woman's board and to my other friends. He has people around the world praying for him (and for the rest of you, too).

I'm so thankful that family is there with you. I'm sorry that neither you or Sal got to go with him but you know God is.

I will be checking back in later this afternoon. The school is having a little "pep rally" for the fall sports groups and Ashley was on the volleyball team so you know I have to go and take pictures! :)

Big hugs and praying continually.

Just read your latest letter on Jaden and I'm so glad you will get to go home for a while. We will be praying that Jaden doesn't get any "bugs" while he is home and that the surgery will be scheduled as soon as Jaden gets stronger. I just marvel at all he has gone through and still can keep smiling and get back on his schedule so quickly. I know how stressful it is for both of you too and also for Ashley and Ethan. Isn't the Lord good to keep holding all of you so close and we promise to be faithful in praying for all of you and I appreciate you keeping us updated each day.

Love to you all,

Marlys and Roy
